I am very interested in buy PortSensor, but I have one question...
in this website the price is 99$ https://www.webgroupmedia.com/shop/products/portsensor/
but in this url the price is 199$ http://portsensor.com/buy
what is the correct price? --------------------------------------------------- sorry for my bad english ---------------------------------------------------
I want to say my opinion and suggestions about PortSensor.
Portsensor is the software perfect to me, easy manage and very powerful, is great!
only I have differents suggestions and features request (I know that this project is stopped on this moment but I think is a good piece of software).
1) Possibility to add sensors from master server, the admin only need install de monitor and he can add custom sensor, ssh commands in web panel, etc. I think is very important take the full control from admin panel of master server. 2) Sensors with the option "Check for string on page" and "check url with user and password" 3) In PortSensor Deskop Viewer add uptime report and Response time report. 4) Advanced distribute monitoring system for the same server, for example if a monitor alert of a down port, first other monitor check if it is true. 5) In PortSensor Deskop Viewer improve the overview screen, If you have a lot of servers is very frustrate check all. For example you can see my image.
The first site you found (with the $99 price) is a deprecated shopping cart system. It's been taken down now. The $199 price on portsensor.com is the correct price, however by a coincidence we are planning to lower the price on the website to $99 this week.
We appreciate your other suggestions as well. We've got some ambitious plans for the next version of PortSensor especially when it comes to the distributed nature of the application which should address your items #1 and #4 you listed.
Along the line of your "Check for string on page" and "check url with user and password" suggestions, we also plan to have a more automatic distributed way of checking sensors without monitors as a simple option (but we're not getting rid of monitors, the more powerful option). And specialized sensors for specific tasks like that are a real possibility.
We've experimented in the past with reports for the current version, and we expect that it is also something that we'll be returning to for the next version.
As for your last suggestion on enhancing the overview, I agree that it could be helpful to give a brief hint out how the server is doing without requiring you to expand each sensor. Although I do like the way the screen stays uncluttered unless there are actually problems in the current version. And the "show only problems" toggle means you don't see anything unless it's in a state you actually care about.
